Maybe the fridge bit comes from made up formula which you should always store in the back of the fridge and keep for just 24 hours. In powered form a cool, dry place is all you need.

I only store the powered formula in the pantry. I have never heard of it being stored in the fridge. However, if you make up formula for use that day that's when it needs to be in the fridge.
